For all you acid free purists out there, do you know the difference between acid free and archival quality? There is a LOT of scrapbooking/cardmaking merchandise out there that tout their acid free status, but what does that mean to you? The short answer is NOTHING! While the crafting industry can claim their products are acid free, that is only actually true until it comes into contact with something - anything - that contains acid...including photographs, embellishments, etc.

If you are truly worried about keeping your artwork protected from the powers that be you need to go with the archival quality products. These actually contain zeolytes, which are friendly little particles that will actually seek out and destroy acid. They will actually pull acid out of objects that come into contact with them.

However, in most cases, acid free is more than sufficient for your projects and will keep your arts and crafts in pristine condition for many years to come.

There are also treatments out there that will balance the Ph in your projects so you can safely use newsprint, etc in your projects.

Happy Crafting!!
