The Kansas State Legislature opened its' 1996 session, and a man named Joe Wright led the following prayer, now well circulated throughout the country.

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance.

We know Your word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values.

We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your word in the name of moral pluralism.

We have worshipped other gods and called it 'multiculturalism.'

We have endorsed perversion and called it 'an alternative lifestyle.'

We have exploited the poor and called it 'a lottery.'

We have neglected the needy and called it 'self preservation.'

We have rewarded laziness and called it 'welfare.'

In the name of 'choice', we killed our unborn.

In the name of the 'right to life,' we have killed abortionists.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it 'building self esteem.'

We have abused power and called it 'political savvy.'

We coveted our neighbors' possessions and called it 'taxes.'

We've polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it 'freedom of expression.'

We've ridiculed the time honored values of our forefathers and called it 'enlightenment.'

Search us, oh God, and know our hearts today. Try us, and show us any wickedness in us.

Cleanse us from every sin, and set us free.

Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent here by the people of Kansas and who have been ordained by you to govern this great state.

Grant them Your wisdom to rule, and may their decisions direct us to the center of Your will.

I ask it in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ.

Amen."

Wake up America! We cannot allow politics to determine our values, but our values should determine our politics. Do your homework! GO to the websites and find out what each party and each candidate represents, what they believe, and "prove all things" (test/judge) according to the Word of God.

Thank you for posting this. This election seems to have a lot of people confused. But God is not the author of confussion...satan is. And as a nation we must fear the wrath of a jealous God who has been neglected and turned away from for far to long. My hope is that Christians every where will rise up and allow God to lead there decisions. May God bless each of you!

It felt really good voting this morning. I did not vote early because I wanted to wait until the real date to cast my vote with my 9 and 7 year old. It was exciting. I got up earlier than usual to look over each party's platform and such, prayed, and FINALLY made a decision. But, I left the house feeling really confident and at peace with my decision because GOD is in control and we have nothing to fear.

With the Supreme Court Justices aging, the moral decline of our nation, and the need for more Christians to take civic responsibilty to the polls and working in the community, I had a very difficult 2 years. My dad, a Baptist minister and seminary professor, grew up during the depression, remembers segregation like it was yeasterday, lived through the assassinations of Kennedy and King, Brown v. Board, integration of schools, and the institution of affirmative action. We have a lot of lively debates. This election means a lot to him socially, politically, and spiritually. It's history coming full circle for him. He voted early.

I was in line with 2 first time voters. One is 57 and the other 18. The younger voter was afraid of making a mistake on her ballot and the older was asking about the party affliations of the senate candidates, governor, etc. It was really powerful to share an historic event with my older children and teaching them that Christians have to vote their values no matter what party they belong.

I hope you vote today. Let's pray together knowing that God has everything under control no matter who wins.

There is nothing out of control. I believe that the only thing that can get out of control is ourselves. I believe that if things were not supposed to be this way that they would not be. We may not like the way some things are, at least I don't, but I wonder how much of that is projection. Are we maybe just visualizing what we do not like within ourselves and call it problems outside of our own being? I do that at times and I have to look within and reevaluate myself. Maybe if the weeds are all pulled before harvest the immature grain will be uprooted also. Heard that somewhere.

You are right nothing is out of control. And, as out of control as we get, there is nothing that we can do that will alter God's plan. However, we can choose to get on God's agenda or continue down our carnal path of destruction and hopelessness. There is so much joy when we do things God's way.
