I have become totally addicted to "House". They have picked it up on USA, and are running back to back episodes. And this past weekend they had a "House" marathon.

My husband and I were discussing whether or not we would want Greg House as our doctor. On the one hand - he's obvisouly brilliant. On the other - forget the bedside manner! And also, he comes pretty close to killing each patient before he cures them. But do we blame the doctor or the writers for this flaw? Ah the dichotemy of fictional characters.

So here's the poll: and tell us why or why not.

Would you want Gregory House for your doctor?

This was tough but I said no! I like the show also and feel like I have a hard time trusting him all the time!

I said no because I'd never want to have one of those weird diseases they have on that show! They just guess at a diagnosis and it usually ends up being something simple. If I were really sick tho, I wouldn't care about the bedside manner.

Heck no! Not only does he use "shot gun" medicine - throwing all kinds of "remedies" at the patient before he even knows what is really ailing them, on several occassions his drug abuse has interfered in his ability to make sound medical decisions. Also if you really pay attention, it is his team's work and diagnostic abilities that save the patient - not House.

I'd rather be the incidental character or passer by who makes a comment innocently and ends up cracking the case for House. ;-)

I said "no."

I had a doctor once who was a lot like House (...in terms of temperament, not intelligence). I could only put up with her for, like, 2 visits. After that I switched doctors. She was just awful.

I said yes. I wouldn't want him for my GP or anything, but if I came down with something no one could diagnose, you're damn right I'd want House to be my doctor then! Yes he makes mistakes but he usually solves the case.

I said yes - if I had something bad enough that it got to his attention, I would definitely want him there to doggedly work on it until I was saved smile
