If I had to make a choice, I'd take brains and skill over bedside manner any day.

House is not a GP in the series, he's an infectious disease specialist and the doctor of last resort.

For every day ills, most people wouldn't put up with a Dr. House attitude. On the other hand, if you were dying and there was a doctor who could help, you wouldn't care if he came in wearing a gorilla suit and smoking a cigar.

I'm like most of you guys - if my case ever (or my andy of my chlidren's cases) got the the point they needed the expertixe of House, I'm not going tp complain about bedside manner much.

On the other hand, As many and ER doc has come to knwo, They cannot just shoot off medical babble at me and hope that wiil scare me off.

I know most of the lingo used and can catch on pretty quick. So if they start trying to talk over my hed intentionally - then they find me in their face and asking a lot more quetions. Irritating both of us basically.

If I had the choice I too would take brains over bedside manner. If I was having say open heart surgery I would want the doctor that got "99% on his final exam" so to speak. My son had a very serious illness and in an attempt to find out what was causing the condition and finding a solution we went through so many specialists and some of them were so clinical and didn't seem to have any "human" personality in them. When you are in a situaion like that and are desperate you do excuse thier manners. Later though you praise the compassionate ones and call the others an ..... In the end though its all about the diagnosis and the cure.

Right exactly. I have a nephew who went through all sorts of trauma and grief before they finally figured out what was wrong with him. If they had a really smart but snide person who did it in one day I would have been super happy, and I would have forgiven the snideness smile

Exactly !!! Like I said we were desperate and I just wanted an answer and I didn`t care at the time so much how the answer was delivered but that it was delivered.

I think our personalities would clash too much and he'd end up in the bed beside me. I love watching the show though. I think what makes it so great is the cast attempting to work as a team.

Right it definitely is more fun to have a disparate group of people trying to work out problems vs a team that is all just lock-step in a matching mindset.

What do you think will happen with 13 and her illness? Will they let her actually get sicker?

I've haven't really watched House. I find it too odd to hear Hugh Laurie with an American accent. We always loved him in his comedy show with Stephen Fry (A Bit of Fry and Laurie). I think they were at Cambridge together. I rather hope he come back and continue with the comedy...

I said no - if I had some strange and dreaded disease, he might help. But, I am not patient with people with his personality. In fact, I used to watch the show religiously, but now I know longer watch it. When they changed the major players I lost interest.
