BellaOnline Forums Travel and Culture Mid West USA FALL COLORS IN THE MIDWEST??

I am just now finding this section of Bella. (I've only been visiting Bella for a few months.) I was hoping to find some suggestions for tracking the change to fall colors - particularly in my section of the Midwest. I didn't want to drive very much - probably a long weekend trip. I was really interested in North Dakota, South Dakota or Wisconsin, and of course my own Minnesota. I don't find any mention of these states, or for that matter any of the other Midwest states. Does anyone know why some of the southern states are listed in this section?

For my original concern, where are the best colors right now?

Hello! As I'm new on here I'm sure my reply won't help too much this year but maybe it will help for next fall. I lived in Southern Illinois for six years and it has one of the most beautiful fall color changes I've seen. It would be a long weekend trip but well worth it. There are a lot of Bed and Breakfasts down there and quite a few wineries/wine trails as well to use as potential destination points on your drive. It's all nestled in the Shawnee forest and I believe would be well worth your trip!
