It is really hard to let go of friendships that don't work anymore, but sometimes you just have to. My preferred method is similar to the rest of you, a combination of ignoring the emails/phone calls, brutal/semi-brutal honesty, and just not encouraging the other person. Although I admit honesty is the hardest it is the most effective.

I can relate. I spent a few days at my folks place in my hometown and who shows up early in the morning but my best friend with new baby in tow. I got the vibe that she wasn't entirely happy to see me there. Perhaps I was overly sensitive but I haven't heard from her for months and it seems as though she has the time to drive all the way out to see my family but not enough time to pick up the phone and call me.

I don't know... maybe I've made too much out of it but since adulthood I have felt her attitude t'wards me a bit condescending through her easy going sanguine demeanor.

Recently, I have been wrestling with the dilemma of when the point will be when our best friend, no. 2 on myspace status (so to speak) will have to be officially demoted to just once-upon-a-time good friends.

I would just let it go, like quacker said.

And regardless of her situation, oopses are no reason to get married, and are most likely why the divorce rate is so high...I wonder if there has been a study about that...premarital sex leading to pregnancy to 'forced' marriage to divorce (divorce after holding on the relationship for 5 extra years "for the kids")?
