I like the slow stretchy yoga - either basic forms or slow fluid movements. I do other activities for aerobic (dance dance). When I do yoga I want to work on my flexibility and balance.

So far no one likes kundalini or power yoga. That's odd about the power yoga - that is all most gyms seem to offer, so I would think it would be the most popular.

Maybe it's a guy thing and we have mostly women in the forums?

Possibly. I think power yoga appeals to the kind of person who likes aerobics classes.

Eventually I will try one of the power classes here in town and let you know what i think. Eventually I will work up my nerve to have my butt handed to me in one of those! heh smile

It depends on my mood and what I am trying to accomplish with my practice on any given day. Some days I love a gentle, slow, stretchy workout. Once in a while I like to attend a vinyasa flow class to work up a good sweat. Most of my teachers, including my teacher trainers have been Anusara based that offers a nice balance of focus on alignment, movement, breathing and heart focused intention. Anusara means flowing with grace and was developed by John Friend. You can learn more my visiting www.anusara.com.

For now I'm only strong enough to do the gentle yoga, I need to build up my arm strength. I'll be working on it!

I took to Kundalini Yoga immediately. It incorporates all the Hatha poses but I love the way movement
and breath is applied to the poses so it becomes cardio and very flowing and
very very powerfully effective to me for not only toning and weightloss
but moods too!! Its the only yoga that really never bores me! I really like
Ana Brett & Ravi Singh's DVD's. They are particular about alignment and
really make their workouts fun.

That is so cool Jenna! I have found myself intrigued about this yoga form. Not sure if it's what I want to do, but it really is so different than the other yogas.

Which Ana DVDs do you like/use the most? And what do you think of the breath of fire? Do you like the chanting/singing? smile

I find that Kundalini yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is to my tastes. The mantras really add to the practice and I find them very powerful. It is a total workout.
