In researching this poem and song I came across this sweet video, recorded at Burns cottage in Alloway.

Someone in our family used to have an old Edison cylinder record player with a big horn. Among these little records which looked like toilet paper rolls, was the song "Ye Banks and braes o' bonnie Doon." Us kids would crank up this old relic and play that song. I still remember the tune but not the words. The reason that I remembered this one perticular song was that one day while handling it I dropped it on our hardwood floor. These things were made of hard wax or something fragile as glass because it went into a zillion pieces. I felt bad. Cool song!!!
