I like to have a clean car and a clean motorcycle. That is just me. But why own a motorcycle if you have it just to show, if it isn't clean. I ride mine, but I still like it polished and pretty.

I do agree, that sometimes people go overboard oohing and aahing about bikes, but hey that is part of the fun and the culture.

If you are big on keeping your motorcycle clean (which I am too!), I would recommend using a silicone based lubricant. I represent a product called Jig-a-loo that combines the power of a lubricant with the properties of a water-repellent.

Its perfect for me because its a dry silicone-based lubricant that contains no oil, grease, wax, petroleum distillates or detergent, so it DOESN'T stain or stink. And it stops squeaks, un-sticks just about anything, protects against rust, and is an exceptional water repellent.

After the exhaust pipes (motorcycle) are cool to the touch, soak the crud with a petroleum based product over night or longer. (Use an old cotton sock or similar - non-dyed - rag). I have tried: SAE 20 weight oil, WD-40, carburator cleaner, gasoline, and fuel oil. A few other solvents and cleaners have limited success: acetone, paint thinner, mineral spirits, wood alcohol, chrome cleaner, and rubbing compound.
