I have found that every time I go to a shop I'm amazed at the variety of needles available. I prefer Inox nickel-plated circular needles, but I also use straight needles, bamboo needles and my grandmother's straight aluminum needles. It really depends on the project and materials I am working on.
I am in love with my boye needlemaster set. I am thinking of giving the new KnitPicks harmony needles a try and I have heard wonderful things about the Denise Needles....ahhhh decisions decisions.
I like the Addi Turbos or the Inox ones myself but will knit on any needles provided that they are circular.
I'd pass on the Denise needles. I have a set and they are very light weight plastic and feel flimsy. Besides that, the join between tip and cable is great at holding the neddle together, much better than the join on the Boye Needlemaster sets IMHO, but it's also a weak point and I've had the join break while knitting on these needles. The little part on the cable that fits into the tip is plastic and snaps right off very easily. You can send the broken cable back to the company for a new one but there is a charge (last I knew it was $1.00) for the replacement.

I like the Addi turbos and at the moment am in love with my 3 1/4 mm Knitpicks Options circular needle which I'm using in the Shetland shawl that's been on the go for months now. The Options needles are gorgeous to use and those points can pick up really really tiny dropped stitches - cobweb yarn no less - and get into spaces that other needles would just stretch out of proportion in this yarn.
I used Addi turbos for a shawl and fell in love, I have heard the Knitpicks Options are as good and much cheaper. Actually I have never heard anything bad about anything regarding Knitpicks.
Thanks for the heads up about the Denise needles, plus the KnitPicks Options are very nice to work with (I have 2 circular sets),,,, I really don't need more needles but they are pretty.
The one tihng I don't like about the Addi's are that the points are too rounded for lace knitting. They do make lace needles with sharper points now but they are quite expensive.
I'm spinning for a Hap shawl and will order needles from Knit Picks before I'm ready to knit the lace border on that.

I was shocked by the price of the one pair of Addi's I bought for the one lace shawl I did, "The Mystery Stole 3" last summer. They are wonderful though (not ones I'll loan out)
I love my Addi Turbos and use them most, but I have some lovely Ebony straights as well as several pairs of Rosewood straights. I also have a large collection of bamboo... I seem to collect all things knitting Shelley
There is no such thing as too much yarn, or too many needles!! Or too many knitting bags either.
I just bought some more Addi Turbos and some lace yarn, they are meant for each other. Have you or anyone ever used the non-interchangeable Knit picks needles?
