Hi, I'm new and a week ago I had an Essure procedure done on me(Great stuff, didn't feel a thing, no discomfort before or after).

So..Lemme introduce myself and tell you why I'm CF. :]

I'm Naomi, 24-years-old, and I'm living with my boyfriend in San Fransisco. We aren't going to get married for another 2-3 years since I need to stablize my work life. We are both CF since we both work demanding jobs(I work in Forensics, he's involved with the police), and niether of us want to give up our careers.

We also have determined that niether of us will be good with kids. I hate them, never been good with them. He's okay with them, but feels he isn't the family man. After two years of careful decision making, I got Essure, and he's planning on getting a vasectomy in a year or two.

And anyways, reptiles make better company. My family(Well, my dad and mother, at least) are accepting of my choice, and so is my boyfriend's. I've only been bothered by friends and a few random people, but I ignore it.

Anyways, I look forward to being a member of this community.

Welcome. That's great. Congrats! I'm a little nervous about that procedure since it is so new. My DH said he would get the 'V' instead but seems to keep putting it off. I'm thinking he'll never get it done.

Yes, Welcome Naomi! My DH got the V as soon as were decided to be engaged. It makes life so much more convenient - no one bugs us about having kids, and out lives are worry-free about conception. smile

Thanks, I think it's good no tto worry, but I still do, since we still need to use birth control for a few months. :] Though all-in-all, I think it's one of the better decisions I have made in my life.

Boyfriend's a bit nervous about getting a 'v'. We've been lookingat websites and talking to doctors about it to try and ease things up.

Tell your guy it's just a super quick nick and stitch on both sides. No pain or anything - he will just have to take things gently for a few days and take whatever pills the DR gives him. The procedure was less than 20 minutes. I was there to watch it, actually. smile

Another neat tip: buy a bag of frozen peas - I'm not kidding!

It will help ease the pain and swelling to have the ice on the area, and the peas are small enough that they "conform" to that delicate area - instead of being a hard block of ice like an ice pack would be.

My husband's urologist is the one that actually recommended it when he had his vas done.

Haha, that sounds like a great tip, Michelle. :] I think we'll give it a try when he gets it done.

(I kind of want to watch, it seems interesting.)
