There's no way I would let my 10 yr ole watch those shows.

But she is very used to me saying - this show is not for you, adults only (and they know thast doesn't mean porno - in our case it's usually violence as we like action/thrillers).

But it is like "90210" was not really marketed towards the college age - it was the teens. And "Saved by the Bell" was for the tweens. They make the shows about one age group knowing it is going to appeal to the next age group down because they want to grow up so bad.

I think if proper boundaries are set on tv watching from the start, then "censoring" what they are watching is a lot easier. However if you've been paying no attention and then all of a sudden something catches your eye and you try to go "Whoa, no more"- then you are probably going to have a fight on your hands.

The very best thing is to keep kids so active thst they have no time for tv. Let them create their own lives instead of living vicariously off of someone else's that was written by a 40 year old.

I believe it should be censored. Sometimes if I'm watching something with my oldest daughter and I thought it was "appropriate" I can tell if it is bothering her and will immediately suggest something else and explain that this really isn't appropriate and maybe explain why if she cares to know. I don't think kids want to see some of these things as much as we think we do.

In particular I know my daughter is often put off by a lot of the shows that are aimed at or for kids a bit older than her.
