SO, I found this over on the Inspiration forum and had to share. Jill Bolte Taylor is a neuroanatomist (brain doctor).

So, watch this video--it's 18 minutes, but worth it! Jill Bolte Taylor's Stroke Experience

Here's a link to her on Oprah, too: Jill on Oprah

I've put her book in my Amazon shopping cart, too.

The reason I am posting it here is because yoga is all about the union of body & mind & spirit and her experiences and this info on the brain finally explains why it's so dang hard for me but at the same time, worth it for me to continue to learn to shut up the left side every once in awhile.

Her talking about the stroke experience did remind me of a lot of what I read about LSD experiences, so I'm thinking maybe LSD (and other drugs) kind of tone down the left hemisphere chemically. And, it seems meditation takes you there, too, from what I've read about it.

I do know I love yoga because it puts me in a bit of right-brain mindset--focus on right here, right now, which I rarely am able to do otherwise.

Anyway, what do you all think?
