A LOT of strides have been made in technology today. Looking back over the past 20 years, what one piece of technology do you like, use, and appreciate the most? How about one that drives you nuts and you could do without?!
For me, the most wonderful piece of techie stuff is my computer and the Internet. I keep in touch with friends and family all over the globe - write constantly, work, and play, all while in the comfort of my own space. Contrariwise, the one thing that drives me bonkers is cell phones! It used to be that getting in your car, or leaving your office, gave you a degree of freedom, of privacy and release from the day-to-day pressures of life. Now, wherever you are "they" can find you! ARGH!
My latest article on the Senior Issues page is about a different kind of technology - read it and tell me what you think.

I was a fairly early adopter of computers, my first was a Tandy 8088 and I loved it until the next one came along, and the next, and the next! As you say, I am in much closer contact with friends and family than in the old snailmail days. My kids will dash an email message off much quicker than they EVER would write a letter, and just look at all the people I converse with in fora like Bellaonline!
I also love my newest model digital camera, with 10x optical, 40x digital and anti-wobble so I can take great closeups of birds and immediately see how they turned out instead of having to wait for the film to be developed.

I have NEVER liked talking on the phone and refused to get a cell phone until a family member gave me one with the stern instruction to carry it with me in the car. I do, but keep it turned off.

ROFL. You sound a lot like me - although my first 'puter was an Apple IIC! I am profoundly hard of hearing, so I don't "do" phones, but I LOVE the texting features on my cell phone, I have to admit! And as a HoH (translation - Hard of Hearing! smile ) email is truly a blessing. How about the rest of you? Tell us your passions and peeves (at least as they relate to technology!)
