I hate doing taxes. I always put it off until the last few days. But I'm done! And I still have a few days to spare.

I did my neighbors yesterday online and than later at night it got accepted so that was good. He is confused between the taxes and the stimuli check.

I thought I was all done with my Taxes and come to find out my book keeper deleted files and left the company. Ouch. I am now stuck recouping the past year. Next year I will be doing multiple back ups so I this doesn't happen again.

I'm so sorry to hear that, ChampionMom!! That is really awful.

Definitely I keep backups of every year of taxes through 7 years. So once I get the final package of papers this year from the person who does my taxes I will go back and shred all of 2001's documents. I will only keep 2001-2007 in the house.

They say it's safer that way - that rarely can old documents help you - but if you have them, they can sometimes hurt you. I.e. they won't use old documents to give you extra money, but if they discover you owed money, they will try to find a way to get their hands on it.

I'll note that it's now the morning of the 15th and my boyfriend hasn't begun his yet, he's not even sure where the papers are But we're going to bed now, so I guess we'll figure that out later!

Yikes, that's cutting it too close for comfort!

We had to do the penciling in part early, so we could file FAFSA, but since we owed (which is fine, since it means we didn't overpay) we waited to mail them until the other day. Would've had both state and fed. in the mail on the 14th, but dh forgot to put the mailing label on the federal return envelope (which, fortunately, the postal worker caught!) so that got mailed on the 15th. Now I can relax until next year!
