I posted a new article last night.

Writing for Publication

And this morning I sent out the newsletter, telling people the new article was up--if you're not on the newsletter list, you can sign up at the bottom of any of my article pages.

What I'm wondering is what kinds of articles will be helpful to the people reading here.

This newest article is a motivational article aimed at getting someone starting on a project.

I plan on also writing craft articles. And I plant to do market news articles.

What I'm wondering now is what my main focus should be. Are most of you new to writing? Or are you already submitting regularly and attending conferences?

Which writing books have you read and what genres interest you?

I'm going to put up some polls maybe (As soon as I can figure out how) but feel free to answer me in this thread if you are reading and would like to tell me where you are in the writing for publication process.

Thanks!

I posted a new article Friday night.

Seven Deadly Sins in Fiction Writing

This one speaks of the sin of having characters who fail to react to what is going on around them.

Authors have agendas in mind when they write scenes. In this scene, Miranda has to drop the hint that Jessica used to be a school teacher but something happened to make her lose her job. Sometimes we get so focused on making the scene and character conversation go where we want it to go, we end up with cardboard characters who do what we tell them to do instead of reacting like real people would.

This week's article is on POV. It's an introduction to a large topic--a definition of what POV is.
