OK, in a way we all have a "computer career" to take care of our home systems. It's a new month! Back up your important files! I think every single person I know has had some sort of a catastrophic data loss at least once in their life. Usually it's because they put off doing backups until "later".

If you do it on the first of each month, it is quick, easy, and it gets done. So do it today!

Beside your local backup to an external/network hard drive or a CD/DVD, you can also do remoate backup to online sites such as www.carbonite.com or www.mozy.com. I am using mozy.com to backup my files for free, which allows free online backup for the 1st 2 GB.

I tried online backup. Too slow. I used USB HD for important stuff.

One on every CPU (3 Computers). Backup of all Mp3's and important stuff. Plus I sent USB HD to Sister and Sister In Law (Local SisinLaw). Swap em out few times a year for updates.

I would hate to lose my Mp3's. 125g of Music.

Photo's I backup on External HD and Wife's System and her External HD also.

Step6. Click next and choose the item you want backup
Step7. Click next and choose the choose the location where to save the backup files,Write the name of backup files, normally put the name of current date.
Step8. Click next and it will take the backup.

I've learned my lesson on backing up my computer. My laptop crashed on New Years Day this year with about 4 years of photos on it. I think it had been backed up about 6 months before the crash but I had several hundred photos on it from a trip we took to Washington Dc and Williamsburg.

Best Buy said it was beyond hope but my husband bought a $99 hard driver recovery gadget online and got my hard drive back for me. However, now I do back up about once a month - and I send most my my photos to an online account at Costco.
