How much is too much and how much is too little? Should it be based on income, or something else? Should the payer be left with enough to live on or does it matter?

This is a tough one. I know divorce laws are different from state to state.. and it appears to me that child support is the SAME. But varies from agency to agency.

In my case, I earn nearly the same amount of money as my "X"...so when they did the math the sum total did NOT
sound like much. Compared to stories I've heard from Males
at work griping about how much they shell out per month. I got the short end of the shtick somewhere.

I do think the payee should have enough to live. Many men are not left with alot to live on... I suppose it depends on what they do for a living eh? Again, they should have enough left to live on, however... children were brought into this world together and should be supported together. As a custodial mother who has the lions share of the child rearing... I can't possibly be the one to have a second job. My second shift kicks in when I walk through the door at 6pm. My "X" on the other hand
will bend anyone's ear about how much he pays in support... I wonder if anyone's clued him in yet that he got off easy? He can get a second job if need be... his second job is holding up the bar at the local watering hole. For what he spends on "beer" in one evening I can probably buy groceries for a week. He does NOT cover 50% of those medical bills, nor does he help with any extra curricular activites.
