Do you have a favorite? Or did you have a favorite as a child that you still remember?

My favorite is usually which ever one I'm working on at the time, wink but I've always been partial to baby dolls, the more realistic, the better.

As a pre-teen I was also crazy about my Barbie, especially the clothes my Mother made for me, herself. I guess the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree!

I had to jump in when I saw your post. I just bought my friend a Cathy Quick Curl off of ebay to celebrate her 40th birthday. When I turned 40, she told me that was the one thing she was always jealous of when we were children.

I also remember (with fondness) the Sunshine Family dolls and the Jody doll... with the long hair down her back.

Aren't those doll memories from childhood some of the best? I think that's why so many of us still collect dolls.

I used to have a Chrissy Doll and my little sister had her little sister, Velvet.

Chrissy was dressed in orange and had auburn hair. Velvet had a purple dress and blonde hair.

When you pressed on their stomach, their hair would grow.

My favorite was 'Peggy'. She had long red ringlets and was an 18" doll. I love the Ashton Drake baby dolls, they are so real looking. I would not want the one that they made that looks and sounds like she is breathing - that would be freaky! I would be afraid she would smother if someone covered her up. The dolls are darling, though. You can click on the link below to view them.

I had a 18 inch fashion doll named Tressy and she had a button that you pressed on her stomach while you pulled her hair and it grew. Then, to make it short again you had a key which fit a slot in her back and turned to reel it in.

I had forgotten about that doll until I saw your post, Robin! Thanks for the memory.

My favorite was my 18" Tonie with ballet slippers and a pink net costume. You could make her dance on pointe by bending her foot.

Next favorite was my Tiny Tears. My mom made her a wardrobe I still remember.

I loved my Chrissy doll too Robin! My evil stepfather left her and all my favorite dolls...even my Little Golden Books on a move from Florida to Missouri! It was so traumatic...I think that is why I have such an attachment to "my stuff" now! I guess my favorite doll is this hard plastic Charlie Brown doll I have. I don't know why, I've had him since I was two years old and used to carry him everywhere!

I had him with me on the move, that's why he didn't get left too!

Oh Deena, how awful to have your precious dolls left behind by someone! I am so sorry.

And I can't imagine moving to Missouri from Florida. I moved here from New Jersey, it's been 9 years and NJ will always be home. But at least the climate here is better, the gardening is more fun, and we have more interesting flora and fauna here. I can't imagine anything to recommend MO over FLA.

Thank you Helen! Hard to believe that it still bothers me after so many many years!

I guess there are good and bad things about most places. My dad and stepmom are getting ready to move to Iowa from Florida. They were actually supposed to do that next month, but they've decided to wait because it's too cold! Wonder what they'll do next winter!

Does anyone remember Mrs. Beasley? The old TV show "Family Affair" made it popular. I loved her. I wasn't a big Barbie fan. My grandma made a big rag doll that I loved too. I wish I still had those.

Yes, Trish, I remember Mrs. Beasley. I never had one but I always thought she was cute.

My mother made Barbie clothes for my sister and me, but no rag dolls. That was something I made for my daughter, though, and she loved it. Now my granddaughter loves them, too.

I have a new favorite doll! If anyone has not seen the articles about my "new" doll you can Look Here to read her introductory article. She is such a treasure, I just love her and am having so much fun making a wardrobe for her. As I make new clothes for her I will be adding articles about each new item, so check back often to see her new clothes.

If anyone recognizes her as a doll they had/have please let me know what her name is or who made her. Any info or memories you have about her would be much appreciated. since I bought her at a flea market I have no information about her.

Deena & Robin, ME TOO...my Dad make me throw away a lot of my dolls when I was around 12, my mother could have KILLED him when she found out. Crissy was missing her boots, "someone" cut them off when she couldn't get them off, I got her when I was 5. I saved my Baby Tender Love because she was wearing my old baby dress that he had bought me as a newborn. I lost her when some of our storage was at an uncle's house during a move, and his wife gave my remaining dolls to their daughter. I had to let my cousin keep the doll because I just could not make her cry. BUT my very favorite doll I still have. A handmade Raggedy Ann that my own sweet Mother made for me. I still pull her out and give her a big hug now and then.

I no longer have any of my old toys. Drowsy was my favorite doll closely followed by Thumbalina.
