I love the Italian Renaissance Period. Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci are two of my favorites.

There is a website that has a reconstruction of the Italian Renaissance gown seen in the painting of Maria Magdalena by Jan van Scorel. It is so lovely. I would love to make that gown. Click on the link below to see it.

I bet it is very heavy - but, wouldn't that be fun to wear to a costume ball? Not that I have ever been to costume ball, but I like to dream...

It would be perfect to wear to a Renaissance Faire. The only problem with that would be Renaissance Faires tend to be held during warm weather.

True...it would be too warm for a summer Renaissance Faire. Hmmm - I wonder if it could be made out of very thin, light fabric? But then it might not hold it's shape well. Oh well - guess I can just dream about it.

Are R. Faires in your area? We have Shakesperian Faires up at Lake Tahoe, but I don't think we have had a R. Faire around here.

Actually the St.Louis R. Faire takes place right across the road from our house! But the best one I ever went to was the NY R.Festival. That is an amazing event that used to run on all weekends in August. I've been in MO for 9 years so I don't know if it is still the same but it's worth the trip if it is.
The one here is good, but not the same as NY.

Santa Clara, Calif. has a fantastic R.Faire every year and last time we went it was so huge, we could not see everything - but it was great!
