We had gotten a second set of balls and Bob's band mate stole them before we could use them. So we just got ourselves a second set today smile These things are good!

Aluminum foil.. I hadn't heard that before? It doesn't mark up the clothes? We tried those dryer resuable chem free cloths for a while, and they worked, but after about 4 months, it was getting so bad we had shocking like Lisa did. I washed them (several times) like the box said, but it made no difference.

So we've been back to the Bounce free for a while, but I hate using it.

Aluminum doesn't "dissolve" in the dryer so it doesn't leave any marks at all on the clothes. The ball is round so it doesn't "pull" at them at all either. So all it does is discharge the electrical build-ups.

In a sense, the whole interior of the washing machine is metal, so it's no different than the clothes touching the inside of the washing machine, except that it also removes the static smile

Oh! I was trying to figure out what you were responding to smile

Bob's bandmate has a very serious allergy issue and can't use any dryer sheets or such. So Bob brought him our second pair (still in the container) to look at. He wanted to give them a try and I guess they're working for him smile

They're only $9 so I consider it fair enough!

Do you crumple up balls of aluminum foil, or are these things that are sold?

Yes Bob just asked him about the balls and he really does like them. So now he has two and we have four. It seems like having four does a better job than just two smile

For aluminum foil, you make a ball about the size of a tennis ball with regular old aluminum foil smile It discharges the static electricity in the dryer as the clothes dry smile

I know that a little hairspray will take the static cling out of skirts or dresses when they are clinging to your legs, but I do not know if that would be feasible for an entire 'throw'. You may have to use too much, then it would smell like hair spray.

I'm allergic to hair spray - if I put even a little hair gel in my hair to make it curly, and then I go to sleep without taking another shower, my whole face starts to turn red. So for me the point of using these balls is to avoid fabric softeners and additives - for me hair spray would be just as bad (if not worse) than the softeners.
