Are there no entries for this site? There are so many issues facing our seniors today - tough ones. One of the major ones is living alone on a small fixed income. How do they manage? I am approaching that phase in my life and am very concerned. What help is available?

What helps me is that i live in low income housing! On my income of under 550.00 dollars i could never afford to live any where else

I wonder about 'Section 8' and other programs. Are they available to anyone?

Hey there! I am in training to be the new editor for the Senior Issues channel and forum. I hope to be able to address these issues, and others, starting in May, so please, keep posting here, and get others to do so; it will give me a great boost to know what issues and concerns you have that I can address for you!

Many of us now have , or are caring for, seniors with limited mobility.

As some are now more house-bound, maybe some articles about sites they could join or about improving their computer skills so they can access?

I have dealt with both issues myself, having cared for my mother, and having had total knee replacement on both knees in 2003. I have made note of your suggestions, and hope to see more ideas posted as well... thanks!

Laura so glad to see that you're going to take good of this section!

If I can make a suggestion - caregivers of seniors need a place to come for answers and encouragement.

I wouldn't have changed the last seven years of caregiving my parents for anything but it was emotionally, financially and physically draining.

Yes, a very good point, and I too have had experience with this -being a member of the sandwich generation certainly has given me a new (different?) outlook on being a senior! Thanks for your suggestion...

Have you signed up yet for the Senior Issues newsletter? My goal is to publish each Wednesday, and eventually I will be adding links, suggestions stemming from ideas mentioned on this forum, and offline resources for seniors and their families. Hope to see you all writing here more often as well!
