A Woman for President? Well yeah! It seems like this could be the right time. What do you ladies think? There is no wrong answer to the question. Is it time for a woman president?

Considering that other major countries elected woman leaders a generation ago, I think that the USA is WAYYYY overdue!

Also considering that many men who have been great leaders have had extraordinary women behind them solidifying the fact that "behind every great man there is a great woman". I'm sure that's not always the case but I'm also sure that it is often the case. That being said, why not move a woman to the front and give her a chance to really show what a woman in charge can do. Obviously, we do need a change in this country why not give a woman the chance to truly lead, not to lead by proxy behind a man? A woman for President? Well yeah. Is it time? Tell us what you think? There's no wrong answer just an opportunity to share your opinion. smile

I wouldn't mind having a woman president, although I don't think Hilary is the right woman. I wish Condoleezza Rice was running, I would definately vote for her!

If I had been asked this question 20, 15 or 10 years ago, I would have immediately responded with an emphatic YES. We were coming out of the Cold War, Great Britan had a female Prime Minister, and women were firmly ensconced in corporate America. What has changed in the past 10 years are the types of threats to our National Security and Safety and the source of those threats. The radical element of Islam, as I understand it, is male dominated. Many still view women as property. Knowing this mindset, I question how effective a woman as President could be with this threat source, not due to her intelligence, leadership capabilities, or other good attributes, but due to her gender. Some would say Equal Rights for women are not yet firmly established here at home. It's obvious they are not established world-wide. I feel the first responsibility of government is to protect its citizens. As much as I would love to see our Country lead by a competent and talented woman, it pains me to say this might not be the right time.

Thank you ladies for joining in to the discussion on this very timely and very important topic. I too have questioned whether a woman has the ability to project a strong enough presence to rule effectively, however, she would not be standing alone. As the Commander in Chief, there are lots of strong men and women standing behind her. It might just be a role reversal that would re-balance the structure of things to have people doing what they really do the best. So many of the households in this country are in fact ruled by a woman. Why? Because they are strong, capable of multi-tasking almost all of the time, capable of mediating the many family squables that are part of family life, and in todays world also often running a business or holding down a full time job at the same time. At the same time they are gracious and able to nurture and attend to matters of emotion. A big part of what is important is to have a good support staff. Americans, a whole country of them, is a good support staff. A Woman for President? Well, yeah! Is it time? What do you think? There are no wrong answers here. Just the opportunity to give your opinion smile

I agree completely that a woman can be president and would gladly vote for a woman if she represented my values. I just can't vote for Clinton in particular. If another woman was running who was more in line with what I wanted, I would vote for her in a second.

I know several women marines and feel women can be just as tough and commanding as men can be.

I, too, am ready for a female president. However, Hillary does not represent a person with whom I share the same values.
