Soda.

I'm also from Mass., and my grandmother always called it "tonic," but for some reason it never caught on with the grandkids. smile

I grew up in NY calling it "soda". Then we moved to NC and everyone simply called it "drink". I was so confused when I would hear underage kids say, "I need a drink!" because to me a drink is something alcoholic :-). More people here call it soda now, thank goodness!

To me a "drink" is any potable liquid.....water, coffee, soda, a martini, etc. - all are drinks.

Where I grew up soda was called pop or sody pop. Unless it was Coca-Cola in which case it was called Coke.

Here in Australia, it's usually soft drink. Tonic is a specific form of carbonated drink - very bitter!

I grew up in the PNW and we always called it 'pop' till we moved to California and started calling it soda. Now I live in Nevada and call it 'off limits'.

New York so soda as well here. When I moved to Michigan I used to get laughed at for calling it soda as they call it pop here.

Grew up in KY and called it pop. Then, moved to NC and experienced Dani's confusion...most called it "drink" which always makes me think of something alcoholic. I still call it pop smile Sometimes I'll call it soda.

How can you prove whether at this moment we are sleeping, and all our thoughts are a dream; or whether we are awake, and talking to one another in the waking state?
