hi, i read your article on terrariums.. v interesting.. and i have an ongoing problem with mould forming on top of the soil.(not only with contained plants, also with my potted plants. strangely, the plants are healthy (seemingly).i'm new to plants and have no idea why this happens! should i completely re pot all affected plants following advice given by you regarding gravel, sand and moss? thanks to anyone who can help! dalriana.

Try watering less and possibly giving the plant more sun, this too will help burn off extra moisture. Using something that will increase the drainage in your plant would also help.

Usually the mold is merely cosmetic and can be scraped off the top of the soil. You can do this and just put fresh soil right on the area you removed the mold from.

thanks for advice.. i repotted some plants that had been given to me and added gravel and pebbles,scraped off some others, and completely re-did my container plants re your advice also. i think this may do the trick,(huge sigh of relief...i envisioned loss of them all! i tried plants some years ago and was a complete failure with them,hence my anxiety i expect!dalriana.
