Coping with Rejection

I am sure all of us have experienced rejection at one time or another. Let us talk and share our experiences of being rejected for whatever reason.

It is difficult to think of how many times I had to deal with rejection. Being left out when other people think I will not be able to do something I am positive that it is within my abilities and not allowed to reach a specific goal. I wanted to become a Sunday School teacher but was rejected because the pastor and the elders of the church thought I will never be able to cope in a classroom because I am blind and, according to them, will not be able to do the work well enough. Not even the fact that I taught sighted children teaching them computer skills could persuade them to give me the opportunity to fulfil my dream.

Please, talk to me, one-way conversations become very Lonely!

Being rejected could be frustrating to anyone. You feel you have the potential to be what you dream of so you should stuggle until you get what you want and don't you ever give up , I believe that many sighted people are not capable of doing what blind people could do.

Good luck...

I'm a firm believer that when one door closes it is because another has opened and it is up to me to walk in a new direction.

Could you not teach with an assistant? One that is sighted to put the elders of the church at ease. I imagine they "fear" that the students will pull the wool over your eyes...no pun intended.

Would that work as a compromise?

BTW...I have been meaning to write to you as you are one of the first people I know who has what my father in law had CMT. I had been tempted to take this site in the very beginning before the missing and exploited children site came open.

I am so happy to have you as part of the Bella Family. You are a wonderful asset to educate many on CMT as well as many other NMD.

Welcome!

Have a blessed day-
