I wasnt' aware tho that Greece was included in the Mediterranean countries the diet is based on. I lived there for 2 years in the 70's and, altho I loved the food, I remember lots of sauces and greasy fried foods. Lots of seafood tho and olive oil.
One thing I remember from Greece too is that the refrigerators were tiny! People purchased fresh fruits and veggies, maybe even the entire dinner, almost daily at the markets to they weren't frozen and stored. There were lots of growers markets with luscious fruits and veggies.
No processed foods there either. Of course in the US in the 70's there weren't many processed foods either!
