In addition to any other treatment, doctors and therapists agree that lifestyle and diet changes are of primary importance in both preventing heart disease and affecting the rate of its development. Most cases of heart disease can be helped by the following measures, especially if cought early:

*Modify your diet to keep it low in fats and salt, and high in unrefined foods ( grains, fruit and vegetables) and avoid rich, heavy meals.

*Avoid stimulants such as caffeine (in coffee, tea and cola drinks)

*Reduce your weight, if overweight.

*Control your blood pressure problems.

*Stop smoking

*Exercise regularly

*Relax and learn to deal with stress.

*Practise breathing exercises.

What else can be done in natural therapy

The Bach flower remedies holly, and willow can be used for the long-term maintainance of the heart. Dilute 2 drops each of the remedies into a 25ml bottle of spring water, then take 4 drops of this mixture four times daily.

Herbalist often supplement medical treatment with Hawthorn berries, Motherwort,Lime blossom and Oats, which are all effective in strengthening the heart.

Vitamins and minerals that help the heart include coenzyme Q10, Vitamin E,Calcium,Magnesium, Phosphate, and Potassium. Fish oil and garlic are also recommended.

Some helpful foods are:

Oily fish such as sardines, salmon, and mackerel, all contain omega 3 fatty acid which discourages the clotting tendency of blood.

Sunflower products, almonds, sweet potatoes, and wheatgerm, are all rich in vitamin E, which helps to lower the risk of angina.

Green leafy vegetables, carrots, apricots, and red peppers, all have high levels of beta-carotene, which lower the risk of stroke.

Blackcurrants, strawberries, citrus fruit, and water cress are all rich in the antioxidant vitamin c, and should be eaten daily.

Red wine and apples contain the flavonoid quercetin, which has recently been linked to a lower risk of heart disease and stroke.

Chilli, ginger and pineapple all discourage blood clotting.

If you have had a heart attack or a stroke please check with your gp first before taking any of the above natural healing foods, or herbs.

What the medical establishment doesn't want you to find out is that the FDA has intentionally recommended a daily dose of vitamin C that is perhaps one tenth of what is necessary to avoid heart disease. The FDA does this because the medical industry absolutely wants people to get heart disease, because heart disease equals huge profits for the medicl industry. Animals don't get heart attacks because they manufacture their own vitamin C inside their bodies. But humans do not, which is the reason that I we need to get vitamin C through food. This is because animals as well as humans rely on vitamin C to maintain the health of our arteries and veins and clean out plaque and prevent heart disease.

What you should do is this: take enough vitamin C supplements each day that you get 10 times the recommended daily dose of vitamin C. And don't worry, regardless of what the medical establishment wants you to believe, excess vitamin C is totally harmless - it is passed out in your urine every day.

Of course, diet and exercise and all of these treatments are good as well, but a very high intake of vitamin C is absolutely crucial - without very high levels of vitamin C, cardiovascular health simply isn't possible.

Best Wishes,

Somatic Healer

Why not eat more fruits and vegetables containing vitamin C or add a whole fruit concentrate to your diet? A whole food concentrate is food and therefore much better absorbed without risk of toxic overload.

If you don't mind, "Somatic Healer", I'd like to know what your credentials are?

Hi Somatic Healer,

Actually, the story on heart disease is far more complicated than this. Vitamin C is not the final common pathway for heart disease and scientific studies regarding its impact on heart disease are mixed. By all means, it is important to get enough nutrients, including vitamin C, but there are other nutrients more strongly associated with impacting heart disease risk than vitamin C, such as omega-3 fatty acids.

Take care

Heart disease can be nearly eliminated by eating a diet of 50-80% vegetables and fruits daily. Eating this way with a healthy dose of omega-3 fatty acids will ward off heart disease for a lifetime.

Thanks for the tips. But i personally feel that fruits and vegetables are best for controlling heart diseases. One thing i must want to mention that you should not leave your exercise at any cost. Massage Therapy Insurance
