BellaOnline Forums Health and Fitness Pregnancy 36 weeks pregnant. Had some questions.

I'm 36 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I went to the doctor today and had an ultrasound and check up. The ultrasound said my baby weighs approx. 7 lbs 9 oz. Big baby. My doc said he is going to induce me on June 22. He checked me and said I was 1 cm dilated. This is my first baby, and I was wondering if I was actually going to make it that far. A week ago I wasn't dilated and now I am a little. I just wanted some info from other moms and how their labor progressed. I was wondering if I should just chill and take it easy or if I should be one alert for labor. I'm not sure what is typical for first time moms. Also when he checked me today I started bleeding a little ( which I know is normal), but now I have nagging cramping in my lower back. Is that typical too? Thanks!

Also, I don't know the stats off hand but late preg. ultrasounds are notoriously bad at estimating weight. And we know now that babies don't gain as much in those last weeks as thought. Your baby isn't big, even if it gains 2 lbs. I'd say that's good size, and either way...your body was made to birth that baby! I'd run the other way from a doc that wanted to induce on size alone (actually, I'd run from any doc who wants to induce at all). Your baby knows what he/she is doing and will come when ready. Just have patience!:)

I had a new question. I think I've been losing my mucous plug for the past few days, but I'm not entirely sure. Every time I go to the bathroom, I notice a lot of discharge and it's twinged pink. It sounds like my mucous plug. I guess I can ask doc. Monday to make sure. How much mucous is in a mucous plug? Sometimes there is a little and sometimes it's big glops. Any ideas?
