Dogs driving cars for the blind explains something that has always confounded me. Ever driven up to an ATM machine? Notice they have the keys in braille ON THE DRIVERS SIDE of course? Um...I always wondered!
No, the braille on the ATM's is for us dogs. The little dots hold scent differently so we can sniff what each letter is and read with our noses. We dogs sniff much better than anything else, so it really helps us when we can sniff the words instead of having to use our eyes.
Unfortunately, I'm too short to reach the ATM! Or the meat case at the grocery store. It's just a bummer being short! Plus, Julie won't let me loose with the plastic! I am pretty good at handling cash though - especially when collecting for charity!
