I just took a peek at your blog and read the entry on music (
Music For Your Soul And Neurons) Very interesting. My 4th grader has played cello for two years and loves it. And he's teaching himself piano and guitar with my help. (I have a knack for instruments too).
My 2nd grader tried suzuki violin in kindergarten and while he was great at it, did not enjoy the lessons, so we stopped. He wants to pick up violin again next year (when our school starts traditional lessons). Here's what I'm interested to see-- he has a moderate speech problem (a lateral lisp) and I'm curious if the effect of music lessons would help his speech at all. He does speech therapy (when the school therapist actually remembers to get him) but he backslides often.
