Does anyone have dreams where they float or fly...and wake up abruptly?

Yes, I have had dreams like that many times. Not recently. It's an amazing feeling.

Mine are becoming more frequent. And oddly enough years ago I just floated on up to the ceiling, now I can actually direct them. At first they really freaked me out... my oldest daughter suggested that I chose where I was going to, my destination. I did last weekend and it worked. And that kind of freaks me out too. My family thinks I'm just weird, with the exception of my oldest--she's into this. And I always enter and exit through windows.

It may be that this dreamstate you are experiencing is/ or is close to an out of body experience. I remember as a child being able to float above my sleeping body and touch the ceiling. As I got older and became more rational, less magical in my thinking I believe, it was if I got heavier and it took more and more effort to get to where I could touch. Eventually I stopped trying altogether. Go with it, but just be careful. You might want to post on the new age board to see if some other dream travelers have some helpful suggetions.

Trishh, thank you. That's what my oldest daughter was thinking as well. And quite honestly, that really freaks me out. I have heard of Lucid dreaming, I don't know if that's the same or that is not. She, (my daughter) said pick someplace safe to travel to. My fear--I won't return to my body!! I know I know, it's just crazy.
