We need to learn how to live with animals better. Where I grew up (and am now living again) in a suburb of nairobi - animals were/ are a regular feature.
We have resident monkeys, porcupines, mongese not to mention the myriads of birds. There used to be a leopard who whenever she was pregnant (every few years until she died) would eat local dogs (they make for easy targets).
There are less animals now - when i go riding i rarely bump into giraffes - nairobi has expanded and the animals are increasingly confined to the national park - though having said that nairobi is the ONLY city in the world with a national park within its borders.
if as you predict we remove all the animals from the planet - we too shall die. we are not seperate from nature and the sooner we truly understand that - the better.
