Here's a bit of info we discovered for ourselves last year that NONE of the tax pros we talked to knew. If your college student returned to a school in an area affected by Katrina last year, you get a double tax credit again this year. Turbo tax will allow it to show up, but lots of "experts" won't know about it. You have to really search in google results to verfiy it, but it's true. It recouped us some lost money last year after we had to do three "freshman move-ins" in one year for our Tulane student.
