A very large factor in measuring success is simply wether or not said success is dublicatable by others that attempt to follow in your steps. This is not just true in business, but in all areas of life.
If you are a great cook, but cannot teach others to duplicate your
recipes, then who will be able to enjoy your cooking, except the very few that you can cook for yourself.
In business you could be a great sales person, a marketing genius.
How does that help the rest of us, who want to achieve in their business?
I am speaking of the 99.99% of us that tremble at the word "sales".
Those of us who do their " marketing " in the grocery store.
These are the masses waiting to be reached. But, they will need to be able to "copy and paste", follow a step by step duplicatable plan that has been proven to work ,no matter who is doing it.
As gifted as one may be, unless the gift can be passed on, it is a short lived gift.

Hmm... I would say "imitatable" rather than "duplicatable." For example, I may pass on my methods; and you may learn them. But, you will then tweak them in your own fashion to create your individual/personalized methods (something similar, yet different). We can then, each in our own way, be successful.

This reminds me of a quote I used in my Grandmother's eulogy.

What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us;
what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.
--Albert Pike

And, as a Business Coach, I think of teaching others as a passion and a mission. But I know that the learner is a big part of the equation and knowledge, skills and methods are not static but dynamic and ever-changing.

The other factor is how good you are at passing the information on...I used to have some teachers who had brilliant minds - a knowledge of their subject that was breathtaking and admirable - but could they communicate it? Could they heck! They were unable to transmit their teachings with enthusiasm and vitality, therefore their lessons were boring and monotonous.
It's not only WHAT you know.
It's how you pass it on.....

Duplicating can work to your advantage or disadvantage. Passing on the information and ideas is a good idea but exact and forced duplication is not.
