What do you think of this article about male models (They're Too Skinny, He Said http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art39594.asp )? Are skinny women really unattractive to men?

LAurie, my fiance' thinks skinny women are unattractive. Especially women where you can see bones pushing on the skin. Most of his friends are the same way. He has one friend who will not date a woman who weighs less then 200lbs. !

Skinny women are unattractive to men. But women go on a diet to get that look and many times fall sick. why, I do not know.

I definitely think you can be too skinny. I also think different men have different preferences when it comes to what kind of women they're attracted to. I, personally strive to stay within my ideal weight for health reasons. I'm 5'6" and weigh between 125 to 130lbs. I feel better when I know my health isn't at risk for diabetes and high blood pressure. I know men who like larger women, but I feel for the most part, men are attracted to healthy confident women. I think many times this excludes women that are extremely over weight or under weight.

My weight has yo-yo'd and I definately feel better when I weigh more. I think when I was thin that my body didn't get all the nutrients & vitamins that it needed as I was starving myself to stay thin. I also seemed to be sick way more when I was thin.

I personally do not believe that there is such a thing as "being too skinny". I find that most of the people that do slim down do not slim down for the single reason to be attractive to men. I myself am anorexic (and have no desire to change). I am not slimming to be attractive to men - in fact the reverse is probably more true. I choose not to eat because this is the one thing that i can control in my life.

So, Pinklulu, the one thing you think you are controlling is the very thing that is out of control. Get help. Fast.

Thankyou Pondlady for your concern. This is my choice. I understand the risks. I have done a lot of research and have determined that I am not in an unsafe position.

I am in control.

This really isn't new. Many men comment that this isn't what's attractive to them personally.

I don't think banning underweight models is descriminating. We have physical requirements for many other professions. Spain didn't say, "We only want women who don't look too skinny." It wasn't an arbitrary or subjective critieria. It was a minimum, healthy, BMI.

On the Good Morning America show today a dr. said if you undereat but healthily you will live longer. I don't see how they can make that statement. How does he know? I am so sick of all this information we get bombarded with. Our govenment is paying for a lot of these stupid studies.
