I like Halloween, but I like it for me. I would like to have a Halloween party and dress up (and yes, I'd like to go trick-or-treating, even if only to friends'/relatives' houses), but I wouldn't want to hand out candy. I'll buy a bunch and keep it for me, thanks.

I love Halloween-We do not have kids- but how many times a year can you be childlike? I like to dress up for my students at school- this year Halloween falls on finals day ...for the first report card period..so I am dressing up like the GriM Reaper, putting the tests into a bucket and enjoying the day At night...I dress up the dogs and we have a bit of fun- if the teenagers are coming- we turn out the lights- If we see cute kids- we turn on the lights... The world has changed so much- not always for the better- some traditions are good

I like Halloween - I give out candy to everyone who comes. But those parents who walk around with their 16 month old kids annoy me... why am I giving candy to adults who can buy their own?? Anyways... this year, I am giving "good" candy to the 3 - 12 year old kids that Halloween is for, and I am giving suckers and tootsie rolls to the adults and teenagers who are too old for trick or treating.

I adore Halloween. Dressing up, being someone else for a day. Witches, bats, cats, pumpkins, scary movies on tv (old-fashioned ones, not the new slash and blood ones).
I also enjoy giving candy away. I don't care who eats it; if you're a generous person, you just like giving gifts.

We do love Halloween around our house. I put decorations in the garden along with a chair where Donna sits dressed as a scarecrow or witch, silently and without moving. When children walk up the path, she jumps out and scares them silly. We give them plenty of candy to compensate.

We have lived in our house for eight years. We don't give out treats every year. Depends if we'll both be home or not. Our German Shepherd isn't a fan of people or children coming to the door so one of us has to stay with the dog and the other gives out treats.
We have had anywhere from 10 to 40 kids depending on the weather. There are more dogs than kids in our neighbourhood.
I like seeing them dressed up in costumes. Even the adults who come dressed up with their kids. My favourite last year was a woman who came dressed up as Velma and her child was dressed up as Scooby Doo. Hilarious.
One of the best things about this is they are here for less than 30 seconds each so it's entertainment.
We usually quit about 8pm when the crowd seems to get older.
The local mall tends to set up things when the weather is bad so that means less traffic.
I can only remember one time when I was annoyed by a child who came to the house. She looked at what we had and said "I don't like that." I told her not to take it and she went on her way with a pout on. The rest have all been polite with their "thank you's".
I'm always glad when it's over though.

Halloween was so much fun when I was a kid. The adults seemed to enjoy it, too. In this town that I'm about to leave, they don't want the kids to go trick or treating. There's a parade and then the kids go to the old downtown area and get their treats from the city. Usually, there's one or two who come by but not enough to buy anything for. One kid came around the evening before and I didn't have anything. It's a shame that a silly fun thing like that has been ruined by some twits. It was generally a harmless bit of goofiness and I wish kids today could be allowed to enjoy it more.

I'm surprised by the number of CF who love Halloween! I hope you enjoy the evening!
DH and I will be going to a favorite restaurant and arriving home once the festivities are over.

Halloween is very small-scale over here - we get precisely three kids coming to our door (brother and his two sisters). They come well before dinner time and they are oh so polite and sweet. I make sure I buy a bag of mini Mars Bars to hand out and my hubby and I get to finish what's left over. We don't dress up or do anything, although this year I'm thinking of making some sort of decoration for outside.

I love Halloween but it has nothing to do with kids. Something a lot of people forget to keep in mind is that Halloween is not just a kids' holiday. Just because it has evolved into mostly trick-or-treating doesn't mean other people can't enjoy it too without having/wanting to do kiddie activities.
