Hi there,
I have just 3 days ago had my dark blonde hair highlighted, and am now a light blonde. I love the colour, but i'm a bit concerned that the hairdresser hasn't seemed to apply the dye to the very base of the root. I would say in most places there is a good 1/2 cm (in some places more) of my natural colour. This looks not so good as my natural colour looks practically black next to the blonde dye!
Is this normal, or should i perhaps have a bit of a moan? I know my roots are gonna be quite bad but i wasn't expecting to have them straight away!
In the meantime, are there any tips for hiding the dreaded roots a bit? I've hard about putting talcum powder on them - any experiences of this?!
Thanks xxx

If you wanted highlights I guess this is your hairdressers idea of what it should look like. I guess when the sun lightens the hair it is on the ends only too. If you don't like it maybe it can be fixed.

What method did your hairdresser use to highlight your hair? Usually the color is a bit closer to the scalp but there could have been other circumstances that prevented it. You might talk to your hairdresser about it. She may be able to touch up just the part and around the face where the dark newgrowth shows most.

I frequently have my hair highlighted and this has happened a time or two. If they pulled your hair through a cap more of your roots will show, however if they foil your hair you should not have your roots showing that soon if they foiled it tightly down to the scalp. My daughter is a hairdresser and does my hair and the couple of times that my roots showed I noticed that she was in a hurry and didn't foil it tightly to my scalp. You didn't mention what type process she used?
