My mom used to make a chocolate meringue pie that I've never been able to reproduce. The chocolate filling was really DARK chocolate and it was GREAT.

I have the recipe, but as I said I've not ever been able to make mine turn out as good as hers.

Can you post your recipe? I have one handed down in the family also....wonder if it's the same?

Sharon

My mom makes the chocolate meringue pie too. I would have put banana pudding, but it is not my favorite. My husband loves it though. My grandmother use to make sugar cookies that I wish I could make, but they never taste the same. She died before I got the recipe from her. Oh and Mom's peach cobbler with real straight from the tree peaches.

Chocolate Meringue Pie
(family recipe)

1-1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
3 T. cocoa
3 c. milk
3 beaten eggs
1 T. butter or margarine
1 T. vanilla

Mix sugar, flour & cocoa together in a saucepan. Stir in milk, and cook over medium heat. (recipe doesn't say how long so I just cook for 5 min or so and it always turns out well).

Add beaten eggs slowly while constantly stirring, until thickened. Remove from heat; add butter and vanilla. Pour into 2 baked pie shells. Top with meringue and brown.

For me, it is a peach or blackberry cobbler. My mother used to make both. She made them in deep rectangular pans and cut them while they were still very warm. Yum.

Oh wait a minute, maybe coconut pinapple layer cake is my fav. Not sure. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

<img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />On that blackberry cobbler, did she happen to add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to the warm dish of cobbler? <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
