I was listening to a talk radio show this morning, and the topic of discussion was kids on planes. Unfortunately i wasn't able to hear the whole programme as i was on my way to work. But it was really shaping up to be a lively debate when i left it!
I don't think kids should be taken on to planes until they are least of school-going age. By then, they should be able to sit in one place for a while and not have too many temper tantrums. I've been on flights too many times to mention where parents bring babies (!!!!! Come on!) and toddlers (annoying at the best of times, but in a confined space?) and cause misery for everybody on board, including themselves and the kids.
One caller to the radio show said that it was cruel of parents to bring small children on planes; you can imagine the outcry from the moo majority after that call!

So, do you think kids should be allowed on planes at any age?

LOL......

Even though it won't happen - it would be a boon to airtravel if each airline should make a seating section on each plane - at the back of the aircraft - noiseproofed and completely separate from the rest of the plane....then they could scream, throw things and run around - all away from the sane and sensible passengers! Then the moo majority could party on and ruin airtravel for no-one!
An extra special fee could be charged for each child under 7 to help defray the costs for the renovations that would be needed for each plane....we could all then fly scream-free!
It's good to have a dream...

I don't think they should be allowed on planes. The babies are suffering anyway, because of the air pressure chcange, and everyone else suffers listening to them cry. Don't even get me started on toddlers on planes...they're annoying under the best of circumstances, but you can't really get away from them on a plane.

I would love to see an airline that doesn't let anyone under 18 fly!

I like the soundproof idea. I'd pay extra for that. I've been pretty lucky with my last few flights, so maybe there is something good with the costs of air travel going up all the time, I figure unless its an emergency, they haven't been flying much. Although, my husband flies a lot for his job, and I believe he'd like seperate flights for tourists and business people. Not just kids. Especially at the security check points. This area has been my worst experience with kids at airports. And the moms are the worst at that point.

I agree whole heartedly with every one. I thought I was the only one that was not a kid lover. If I had my way they would all stay home till at least a teenager.

The reason being most parents can not control them, they just scream and scream.

[color:"blue"] ArtGlam, excellant idea!!!!

I think it is cruel to let babies and toddlers on planes, because they do not know enough to do stuff like swallow, to handle the pressure change and ears popping. I don't like being on planes (or anywhere) and hear a temper tantrum of a fussy baby/toddler. It's beyond annoying.

If motherhood doesn't interest you, don't do it. It didn't interest me, so I didn't do it. Anyway, I would have made a terrible parent. The first time my child didn't do what I wanted, I'd kill him."

It's too bad you can't give cocktails to babies/toddlers or something to knock them out on the airplane. It's a tempting thought!

[color:"blue"] I think some people (who are total PNB) give their kids some little bit of benedryl, which works. Breeders need to take a hint.

Well, as much as I can't stand screaming kids on planes (or kids kicking the back of my seat, running around in the aisles, etc.), it's not realistic to say that people shouldn't bring babies on planes. I know in military families, they are moving around a lot, and there are often babies or small children that have to move too...sometimes overseas. So there's really no choice in the matter.

That being said, who would like to invest with me in starting a childfree airline?
