I just received an email asking about the difference between the cash and accrual method of accounting. Here it is:

Cash - revenue is recorded when it is received and expenses are recorded when they are paid.

Accrual - revenue is recorded when it is earned and realizable and expenses are recorded when they are incurred - regardless of whether or not you have actually paid them.
