Hi Dr. Maria,
I have had VV since 1986 and I have had 3 surgeries for relief. The last surgery has helped some but I still burn when i wear jeans, etc. Is there any new ideas on helping patients with vulvodynia; aside, from the tricyclics, Neurontin, PT? I and other women have been placed on antidepressants like Effexor. The trouble with that med, it makes you forget about sex completely. As you know this is a frustrating problem; i, also, have been diagnosed with IC. .. I was thinking about Botox or something new. There are not many doctors that are familiar with this syndrome and it is heartbreaking when I hear women from my support group tell me that there doctor says they cannot help. Any words of advice or maybe a report on vulvodynia [color:"pink"] [/color] ?
Thanks,
Dew

Hi Doc Maria,
What do you think on the Perineoplasty and vestibulectomy for vulvodynia? These are questions that I am asked as a support leader. My surgeries did not help me that much but do you know what the average statistics are on the surgery or where I can find them? .. I do know that my Gyn/Onc surgeon said that women can be helped with surgery if their vulvodynia has been newly diagnosed rather than a woman who has had it for years.
Many thanks,
Dew <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
