Michelle, I admire your bravery...I'll admit that I also own Bring It On. Fair Game was horrible - I'd blocked that one - and Good Girl with Jennifer Aniston was a huge disappointment...I'd heard so many good things about it and I like JA and Jake Gyllenhaal, but not in that dull, depressing movie. Date Movie is probably the worst one I can think of....and I like those low-brow spoof movies for the most part. Has anyone seen The Musketeer? I turned that one off after 45 minutes...it was all I could take. And Alone in the Dark with Tara Reid and Christian Slater - bad bad movie.

Mother always said that even when things seem bad there's someone else who's having a worse day. Like being stung by a bee or getting a splinter or being chained to the wall in someone's sex dungeon.

My husband reminded me of the Stupids (Tom Arnold). Watched 10 mintues and turned it off. I personally didn't watch but the first Lord of the Rings movie and hate it the whole time. (Sorry) Loved O Brother, but The Ladykillers was bad. Disliked Cast Away too. Didn't like Apollo 13, but not sure if it was because I drank a large soda and needed to go to the bathroom the last 30 minutes. I hated Sixth Sense because I figured it out, so it was boring.

I know, I'm thinking we need to take Judith and go hang her by her toenails someplace! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Oh my - you are an individual, either that or you are pulling our legs on a lot of these movies that you dislike!

Not my toenails, I just got a pedicure that has to last until my beach trip!!!!

No, I hated Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about it. She and her husband didn't like it either. I just don't understand the big deal with it. I usually love movies like that, but for some reason, I didn't like it. I am very serious about the movies that I don't like though. I am ready now!! Let me have it!!

I far preferred the LOTR movies to the books. (Now I'm going to be hung by my toenails...) Tolkien is a bit overrated as a writer. I think he needed a better editor.

I liked the LOTR books. I hated the movies. Some things are just better left to the imagination.

But, I do have another movie to add to my "I Hate" list: Country Bears. My son kept asking me "Is it over yet, mom? Can we go home?" It was a mom/kids night out and we had another group with us, we couldn't just walk out. Boy, did we want to!

Lord of the Rings, any of them, are what film making is all about.

Not only was it a massive undertaking, we are talking about hundreds of hours of unedited footage taken down to 12 here, shot back to back over many years, but it showed that Hollywood is not the be all and end all of big movies.
The commitment of the director, screenwriter and actors is like nothing I have ever seen, and the dedication to putting on screen one of the worlds most loved books, with as much authenticity as possible could only be achieved through great love for the source material.
LOTR contains tight story telling, beleivable characters (no matter how outlandish), a thrilling, emotionally involving plot, an astonishing technical breakthrough with Gollum and some awesome model and SFX work.
Then of course, the movies redefined what was considered ultimate when released on DVD. The extended versions are better than the theatrical versions and contain the most exhaustive documentaries I have seen. LOTR is without a doubt the most influential trilogy of fantasy movies since Star Wars.
None of these films will ever, EVER (except seemingly, here) make it on to a list of bad films.
