I've been thinking about what to read this summer when I have to sit for hours at the playground with the kids
So far on my list:
 • Crossover by Joel Sheperd (not officially out until August)
 • Starship: Mutiny by Mike Resnick
 • The Bartimaeus Trilogy Book One by Jonathan Stroud
 • Tehanu by Ursula K LeGuin (Been meaning to read this one for years)

I'm sure I'll also read lots of YA books with the kids. Mostly they want Star Wars and Pokemon, but I'll try to sneak in a few of my favorites too I just read Coraline by Neil Gaiman and I think my 8 year old will like it.

This is my winter reading list:

The Tawny Man Trilogy by Robin Hobb
The White Dragon by Anne McCaffrey (the last of hers I think I'll bother reading)
Permutation City by Greg Egan
Heads by Greg Bear
The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman

Oh, and I should add, at the moment I'm reading The Naked Sun by Isaac Asimov

The White Dragon was a good read. Solid plotting, good build up of tension, and great character development.

I'm looking forward to "Mother Damnation" by Janrae Frank. After that, I'm going back and re-reading the Amber Chronicles. (Plus lots of horror and dark fantasy)

Books! Books! Treasures! And how wonderful the library: One of the only places where you can go in and take home anything you like....FREE!
Some great reads:
***** Lois McMaster Bujold: The Curse of Chalion
***** Stephenie Meyer: Twilight
***** Megan Whalen Turner: The Thief
***** Megan Whalen Turner: The Queen of Attolia
***** Megan Whalen Turner: The King of Attolia
(Read these last three in that order)
So many books! So little time!

I love our little library, but their SF/Fantasy is very small. It's a public library housed in the basement of an elementary school and the SF/F section is in a closet (don't know why, but I find that funny!) Most of the current titles they have are ones I donated. We also have a larger library system further away that sends out bookmobiles. I can go online and request titles for that one. And the bookmoblie lets you keep them for 4 weeks

I'm really not getting all the reading in that I wanted this summer.

Maybe because they expect them to mutate??

I'm just about to re-read "the secret text's" trilogy by Holly Lisle, diplomacy of wolves, vengence of dragons and courage of falcons. Read them a few years ago, but I really enjoyed them. I'm recommending them to a friend, so I want to read them again 1st! [color:"pink"] [/color]
