A meeting was held last week to discuss the ECW roster and its total lack of heels. The situation obviously changed last night with Foley, but at the meeting they batted around ideas for who could switch from the main WWE roster to be lead heel in ECW. The name which they came up with was Ken Kennedy.

I like Ken Kennedy but I like him for comic relief. I have never really seen any kind of wrestling out of him that would suggest he is good for ECW.
Of course he has been injured for most of his tenure in the WWE. I might be remiss though. I just don't remeber seeing him in any defining matches although I believe I remember him being undefeated for awhile but who has he really wrestled?
If they are looking for heels to fit the ECW mold then they should be looking at people like Finlay or Foley and now maybe Edge.
I dont know though. Maybe Kennedy...Kennedy would fit in ECW I just don't remember seeing a lot of promise from him.
Kane could make a good heel in ECW and Kennedy may do well there as long as they don't turn him into another Joel Gertner.

When I think of Kennedy, MMMIISTERRRRRRRRRR KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNN EDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. That's what I think about. I don't see him as a ground breaking heel. I just don't. If they want to bring him on board with ECW, good. But they need a big name heel. Foley is good, but everyone is just dying to love the guy so I see him not staying heel for to long. Could be wrong, but I don't. Kane? That would be good. Before I would have bet a sizable chunk of cash in not seeing Edge in ECW, but now I amnot so sure. The more I think about it, Edge would be a perfect fit, ECW's big heel star. I guess I will just have to sit and watch as this thing developes.

I love Kennedy. Wherever he goes is fine with me. This guy will be a huge star. I know someone who worked with him before he was with WWE and he is a great worker with some killer moves and is also a very good heel (not just comedy).
They need more than one heel though. Too bad WWE burned so many bridges with some ECW guys who now say they will never go back even for an ECW program...
I really don't see Edge jumping. He is 100% WWE. He may work the PPV in a tag match against Funk and Dreamer but, as a full time ECW guy, he would just be a constant reminder that WWE owns ECW and one of WWE's ex champs is leading the pack. I hope they don't do it for that reason alone.

I love Kennedy but I agree with TGO, kinda. I think he could be a great heel, and I'm sure he's a good wrestler, but I guess I don't see him as an ECW guy. But, if Paul Heyman works his magic, I guess anything can happen!

But, if Paul Heyman works his magic, I guess anything can happen! I think thats what everything is riding on. With WWE owning the company and MacMahon is going to have the final say even with Heyman and Dreamer running the show, I have complete faith in Paul to do what he believes is best for the program. If he wants Kennedy for his top heel, he has an idea that he truely believes that will work. If it doesn't, I bet he has a back up plan. This really makes me want to catch the show even more. Just to see what crazy ideas, Paul is harboring. Se7en

First, have you heard any more news on possible ECW signings? Secondly, who are some of the former ECW's who flat out refuse to come aboard? (Not the ones currently under contractual obligations with TNA or others, unless it is them who say they are happy where they are at and not willing to come aboard). And Edge. Interesting thought on Edge reminding the fans he is a former WWE champion (for a minute anyway) and that WWE actually owns ECW. But the same could be said for Mick Foley. My interest is at a tepid level now. I think the politics are turning out immensley more entertaining then the actual event itself! ~Chris <img src="/images/graemlins/king.gif" alt="" />

I know Ken back in the Ken Anderson days at NWA Wisconsin, and he is FAR from a comic relief heel. Ken has charisma and taltne to basically write his own ticket in this business. I've known Ken for about three years now. I've worked with a lot of guys in this business, and seen a lot of guys get "the call". See a few of the guys I know on my site. I'll tell you what, tho, for a guy who has been in the business as long as Ken has, and for someone who is still young, and reasonably wear and tear-free, I have never been more honored to see someone I know get called up then Ken Anderson. Ken is an immediate star, and one who will be a star forever, much like Piper, or Flair, because he is a complete package...he can talk AND wrestle, and he has the look and physique of a pro. Further, it's not JUST his speaking voice, it is the charisma and timing, and knowing what to say and when to say it. If Ken goes to ECWWE, he'll be the breakout star that they need that is a current guy. The biggest hurdle WWE faces in trying to rebuild ECW is that they look at ECW through WWE-colored glasses. If Heyman is able to recapture the magic of ECW (taking basically guys that had talent, but no one wanted for whatever reason, and making them stars), then ECW can live again. However, if WWE starts to see it succeed, and decide that nothing is better than WWE, so they start to take steps to insure it's never more popular than "daddy", then it will fail. Whatever theory you hold for the WCW Invasion, the bottom line with that is simply that WWE has always been able to work with less and make it more, but they chose not to make the best of what they had, because they were more interested in "proving" who was better all those years. Look at them right now, with the way Flair is mishandled. Unfortunately, not only does Flair need the money, but he's also too much of a company guy to say something about it. -- Shadow Fire Promotions, Inc. Kennedy's timing is great! He's definitley got what it takes. I wonder how The Queen of Extreme Francine will be part of it? For a girl who wasn't built like an athletic wrestler such as someone like Trish Stratus, Francine really put her body on the line & took many bumps during ECW haydey. I'm still suprised WWE never gave her a shot.

I agree about Kennedy. he has STAR written all over him.
And Francine sure did take bumps, yikes. I was surprised WWE didn't hire her but she isn't a wrestler, she is more of a cat fighter and manager. They have eye candy for that but none can take the bumps or have the persona that Francine had. I don't know what kind of shape she is in now but have seen recent pics and she looks ready to get back in there and mix it up. I always liked her and look forward to seeing her again on TV.
