The Cajun-Creole Events Schedule has been updated for 2007!!

If you know of a Cajun themed event in your area, why not post it here, in our Cajun Forum, so that everyone can hear about it? Be sure to post the event name, date, city/state, cost (if known), event website address, and any additional information that might be helpful to prospective attendees.

In addition to posting events here in our Forum, our Cajun and Creole Site now has an events calendar as well.

I stumbled upon this event on the Internet -- looks like fun.

May 25 28 2006: Downtown Shreveport, Louisiana, Mudbug Madness. This festival began in 1984 to 'prove' to the rest of Louisiana that Shreveport's culture and roots are part of the Bayou State and NOT Texas, as some folks believe!

Held in the Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport, this event is FREE for kids under 12 and FREE to everyone before 6:00PM. After 6:00 on Thurs. it is $1.00 and Fri. it is $3.00. Sat & Sun. all day is only $3.00! Now that is a bargain. Cajun, Zydeco, Blues and Jazz artists will entertain you while you eat and have fun. Check out their website for directions, shuttle info, and events schedule.

Great Cajun/zydeco fest in Iowa at the Amana Colonies Convention Facility. It takes place May 26-28, 2007. GREAT music, with artists like Hadley J. Castille and Chubby Carrier. Good food, too - cooked up by a crew of chefs who travels up from Louisiana. They have kids' activities, and cooking and dancing lessons.
There's a very nice RV park there, so make a weekend out of it.
www.cajunfest.net has more info - tickets are $10 for adults, I believe. If you're looking for something fun to do over Memorial Day weekend, this is it.

In NY, there are great stands in day parades all over the summer.... Usually, this is where I'll stop to get extras to bring home the food. It just fits with the whole summer fair theme for me personally..

One of our visitors sent me the following info on a fairly new festival in beautiful Mariposa County. Mariposa is located in Central California in the heart of gold rush country and is perfect for a weekend getaway. The weather should be fabulous in late September. Be sure to visit the venue's website for more information.

Details:
On Saturday September 20th, 2008, the John C. Fremont Hospital Foundation in Mariposa, California will present its
Second Annual BLAZIN HOG BBQ Competition and Zydeco Music Festival,
to be held at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.

Once again, the stage will be alive with Zydeco dance music from valley and bay area recording artists. BBQ contestants will be competing for cash prizes, evaluated by a panel of judges, and the tasting public.
Arts and crafts vendors will be displaying many of their unique, one-of-a-kind items for sale; and childrens activities are also planned. A delicious day of sun, fun and music for all!

Admission is only $10, with a discounted price of $7.50 for senior groups.

Proceeds and donations will benefit the JCF Hospital foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to advancing the health care of our community by providing financial support to the hospital, the only hospital in this medically underserved area of Mariposa County.

Visit the venue Website on: Blazin Hog for more information including photos and videos from 2007!
