Which is the correct way, or more traditional way, to execute hip drops? By bending and straightening the knee thus making your hip go up and down or contracting your side muscles and the relaxing them to obtain the drop?

Hi TickledPink,

It's a little of both, but mainly pulling your hip up into the rib cage and then letting it drop into almost a sitting position, which should happen naturally if you are in bellydance posture. The knee kind of follows naturally as long as you keep it relaxed.
