I just posted an article about Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window. My husband and I really enjoyed it. I have hit my MIL's DVD case and plan to watch a lot more. So what is your favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie?

Oh I love that one too. I haven't seen it in a few years.

My favorite is probably "Notorious", but a close second is "Rear Window". When a restored version of "Rear Window" was released a few years ago, I made sure to see it in a Cincinnati area theater -- and once again learned how different it is to watch movies in a theater instead of on TV. The scene where the villain (played by Raymond Burr) turns and stares into the camera after realizing James Stewart was watching him across the courtyard was GREAT. Someone who'd never seen the film before gasped loudly in the theater -- something you'd never hear at home, seeing it for the 10th or 15th time!

Marnie is one of my favorites (consequently, any movie of Hitchcock's with James Stewart I love and Tippi Hedren is wonderful as well). My husbands fav is Lifeboat.

I watched Vertigo last night. It was weird. It was not that I didn't like it, but I just didn't understand what was going on until the end. For me that good because I didn't figure it out.

His version of The Exorcist was pretty scary, but I wasn't scared. Really. Of course his greatest success came in 1962 with his epic blockbuster Lawrence of Arabia. He followed that up with a series of thrillers about Raymond Burr and a piece of hessian. They were met with a lukewarm critical response which is a shame because I thought of them as classics and great personal friends.
