BellaOnline Forums Home and Garden Fish "2 gallon" tanks

By the time I add gravel,and a couple of plastic plants, the most water this "two gallon" tank holds is one gallon plus one cup. I have been using conditioner etc. based on a two gallon water volume. Today I realized it will not hold two gallons and am wondering about adjusting the various conditioners: dividing the amount to treat just one gallon of water. Is that what I should do? I have just one beta male right now. There had been a danio in with him. [color:"black"] [/color]

Hi, and welcome! I would have less gravel and remove the danio. Danios need to be in schools or they are unhappy, plus two gallons is not big enough for the second fish that is normally quite active.

Oh, right, you removed the danio. Good on you! I would have less gravel, just to dust the bottom, since you are not using a filter or cycling anyway. Not with a betta. And use the conditioner for 2 gallons anyway. Won't hurt the fish. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
