Vastu Shastra!

I never knew this, until I read these books that schooled me on Vastu Shastra and pointed out that it was an ancient system or placement and architecture that originated from the vedas and was the basis for Feng Shui. I'm really into Indian culture and Hindu Gods and Goddesses, so I found this fascinating!

If you like Feng Shui, like me, then you would LOVE vastu...I'm passing on some books for those interested. If you are into altars, *raises hand*, then you'll LOVE the altar book. So beautiful!!!!

I read a short blurb on Vastu in a magazine, think it was the defunct Organic style. So I'm glad to see these links.
Thanks.

I like to think that many different schools of design and placement came from similar sources, but I'd be hesitant about saying that one sprang from another.

It's like... the invention of the television occurred in both Russia and the US at almost exactly the same time. It's a quirky coincidence.

And, different schools of design and placement evolved differently, based on the relevant cultural context. This is one reason why Black Hat Sect Feng Shui--popular in the UK and in the US--is different from traditional Feng Shui: Western colors and cultural contexts are slightly different, too.

Most Feng Shui experts in China point to its roots in Taoism, Buddhism, and yin-yang theories. The Bagua that we use in Feng Shui evolved from the design on the back of a turtle's shell.

I'm enthusiastically in favor of finding a design and placement system that works for you, no matter what it is.

Thanks for sharing those links. As an artist, I'm very interested in altar designs; I love sacred art and deeply authentic approaches to art.
